The first weekend of October brought us back to The Fear Farm outside of Blacksburg, South Carolina, and it was a return that was long overdue. It had been too long since our last visit, so we were excited to have the opportunity to see what had changed and, this time around, experience The Fear Farm’s new VIP option.
After spending the evening putting the VIP experience through its paces, we can say that the upgrade was worth considering, particularly for guests who want to make a full night of their visit rather than simply arriving, walking through the attractions, and heading home.
The Fear Farm is built around a collection of separately themed attractions that guests experience one after another. The journey begins with The Abyss, a disorienting dark maze populated by glowing creatures, before moving through The Mineshaft, the Coven, Confinement, Twisty’z, and eventually arriving at the Farmhouse, where a murderous cannibal family has established its final bastion.
That variety is one of The Fear Farm’s biggest strengths. Each attraction has its own identity, allowing the experience to continually change as guests move from one section to the next. One moment you’re stumbling through near-total darkness surrounded by strange glowing figures; later you’re dealing with witches, inmates, twisted characters, and eventually a family that has taken the concept of dinner guests to an entirely different level.
With multiple attractions, a lively midway, roaming characters, and several optional upgrades, The Fear Farm offers enough to turn a visit into an entire evening of Halloween entertainment.
