Looking for haunted attractions to add to your Indiana Halloween plans? We’ve put together 10 Must-See Haunted Attractions in Indiana for 2026 to help you discover some places we think haunt fans should have on their radar this season.
Our Must-See selections may include attractions we’ve reviewed, visited, or filmed, along with other haunts that stand out for what they offer, their popularity among haunt fans, or other reasons we think they’re worth checking out.
This is not a ranking or a “10 best” list, and these certainly aren’t the only haunts in Indiana worth visiting. Think of this as a starting point for building your haunt list. There are plenty more attractions throughout Indiana waiting to be discovered! This list is in no particular order.
So, where will you scream first?
The Thirteenth Hour – Indianapolis, Indiana
The Thirteenth Hour in Indianapolis has become one of Indiana’s most elaborate story-driven haunted attractions, taking guests through connected chapters of a time-travel nightmare filled with movie-quality scenery, original characters, and massive effects. Rather than feeling like several unrelated haunted houses, the multiple haunted experiences work together as one larger story that continues as guests move throughout the property.
There are some major reasons for returning fans to head back in 2026. The Thirteenth Hour is debuting Gothic, an all-new cathedral-themed attraction, while Cartocker Expeditions receives a new facade and characters, and Widow’s Revenge Cemetery gets major renovations and additions. Sharpe Family Orphanage and RIFT/13 also return, along with Purgatory Midway & Bar, giving guests places to regroup, grab merch, take photos, and, on select nights, grab a drink before continuing deeper into the story!
Opening night: September 19
Know Before You Go: Timed ticketing with date-specific tickets, advance purchase strongly recommended because time slots can sell out on super busy nights, General Admission starts at $29.99, Fast Lane and Instant Access options available, free but limited on-site parking, no-touch attraction, midway, gift shop, photo ops, and a bar on select Fridays and Saturdays in October.

Unreal Nightmares – Jasonville, Indiana
Unreal Nightmares in Jasonville isn’t your typical walkthrough haunt. Located inside an old factory, this interactive experience blends a haunted attraction with elements of an escape room, giving groups a mission to complete while monsters, characters, horrific sounds, and plenty of distractions make accomplishing it considerably harder than it sounds.
During our 2025 visit, we were tasked with finding missing agents after a ghost hunt went terribly wrong, turning the walkthrough into a chaotic mix of problem-solving, interaction, and scares. Guests could also choose whether they wanted a touch or no-touch tour, giving those seeking a more intense haunt another way to experience the nightmare. Our team spent more than 35 minutes inside during that visit, making Unreal Nightmares especially impressive for a smaller-market haunt.
Opening night: September 25th
Know Before You Go: All-indoor attraction, indoor waiting available, Fast Pass available, concessions and merchandise on-site, touch and no-touch experiences have been offered, and Unreal Nightmares is also known to reopen for select off-season events.

Haunted Hills Haunted Attractions – Merrillville, Indiana
Haunted Hills Haunted Attractions in Merrillville is designed to feel like an entire night of Halloween chaos rather than a quick haunted-house stop. The experience combines high-energy, aggressive scares with elaborate environments and a lively outdoor atmosphere where actors, music, games, vendors, and entertainment keep things moving even when guests aren’t inside one of the main attractions.
For 2026, Haunted Hills is advertising three haunted attractions, two escape rooms, the returning Mayhem Midway, Hills Hollow: Sanctum Scarezone, and a completely revamped gaming area called The Square. The Square will feature carnival-style games along with what Haunted Hills describes as a first-of-its-kind immersive gel-blaster arena. Their virtual queue also returns, allowing guests to explore the property rather than spend their entire wait standing in a single traditional line, which we hope to see more haunts implement!
Opening night: September 25th
Know Before You Go: Parking is located off-site at Deep River Waterpark at 9001 E. Lincoln Highway in Crown Point with shuttle transportation to the haunt, they also have a virtual queue, food and craft vendors, carnival games, escape rooms, a massive gift shop, and tarot readings available for additional fees, a clear-bag policy, indoor/outdoor experience, and closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended.

Malice Manor – Clarksville, Indiana
Malice Manor in Clarksville drops guests into the increasingly twisted home of Lord Rancor and the cursed creatures that have consumed his family, servants, and manor. This all-indoor haunt has become especially known for energetic actors, unexpected hiding spots, detailed environments, and an original storyline that continues to grow as Lord Rancor’s collection of strange artifacts and darker forces spreads throughout the manor.
Despite being a single attraction, Malice packs a lot of personality into its labyrinthine layout, with scares coming from above, below, and places guests may not immediately notice. The manor also changes throughout the year for several off-season events, giving regular visitors completely different versions of the experience outside the traditional Halloween season.
Opening night: September 4th
Know Before You Go: Entirely indoor haunt, open regardless of rain, General Admission is currently $25, Fast Pass is $40, $60 Front of Line. Tickets are nonrefundable, maximum group size of six, and multiple off-season haunt events are offered throughout the year. This is a light touch haunt.

Shattered Nightmares – Terre Haute, Indiana
Shattered Nightmares in Terre Haute is a locally built haunt with a long history of making the most of creativity, interaction, and unexpected scares. The attraction has been operating since 2010, surviving everything from location changes to a devastating fire, and its team has continued rebuilding, changing, and adding to the experience ever since.
The haunt’s crew has already been busy making significant changes for 2026. As of August, Shattered Nightmares says several major updates have already happened with more still underway, and they’re continuing to add surprises in places returning guests may not expect. This is the kind of haunt where the passion of the people creating it is a major part of the experience, and they aren’t afraid to keep changing things right up until opening weekend.

Necropolis Underground Haunted Attractions – Indianapolis, Indiana
Necropolis Underground Haunted Attractions in Indianapolis sends guests below ground into a massive city of darkness containing four distinctly themed haunted attractions. Set inside the basement of a former telephone warehouse, the property combines sprawling, detailed environments with original characters and enough different settings to make each section feel like another part of the underground city.
Beyond the four haunts, Necropolis has evolved into a full horror-entertainment destination. The Dead City Festival gives guests a central place to explore between attractions, while haunted mini golf, axe throwing, escape experiences, concessions, merchandise, and other activities offer plenty more to do. A change introduced in 2025 also allowed guests to experience the four main haunts in the order they choose rather than being locked into one continuous route.
Opening night: September 26th

Hanna Haunted Acres – Indianapolis, Indiana
Hanna Haunted Acres in Indianapolis is essentially a full scream park, combining six haunted attractions with a huge outdoor midway and enough entertainment to fill an entire evening. Guests can climb aboard Indiana’s original Hanna Haunted Hayride, venture through Stalker Farms, and tackle indoor attractions including Cannibal Chaos, Bitten, Freakshow, and Dark Echoes, each bringing a very different style of fear to the property.
Hanna also offers D.O.A., its extreme sensory-deprivation attraction where participants may be hooded, touched, shocked, sprayed with water, exposed to wind, dirt, and other effects. Outside the haunts, The Boneyard Midway offers games, character encounters, photo ops, food, drinks, bars, fire pits, and other entertainment, making this one of the easiest Indiana haunts to turn into a whole-night destination.
Opening night: September 11th
Know Before You Go: Six haunted attractions, free well-lit on-site parking, General Admission starts at $28.95 online, Unlimited, Fast Pass and Immediate Pass options available, hayride-only tickets offered, food and drinks, two bars, games, photo ops, merch, and The Boneyard Midway. Open rain or shine, although individual outdoor attractions may be affected by severe weather or muddy conditions.

House of Lecter and The Catacombs – Evansville, Indiana
House of Lecter and The Catacombs in downtown Evansville take guests through three floors of Dr. Lecter’s twisted experiments before sending them even deeper into the horrors hidden beneath the building. The upper levels focus on experiments, surgeries, torture, and a tribute to longtime haunt creator Phil Wolter, while the basement Catacombs plunge visitors into stone, brick, dirt, darkness, and the secrets buried below.
The attraction is celebrating 25 years of fear, and its current experience includes an all-new blackout maze in The Catacombs. Following new ownership beginning in 2025, the haunt has continued honoring Phil Wolter’s legacy while updating scenery, monsters, costuming, makeup, and the overall show. Many new changes coming from the 2026 season!

House of Anguish at the Culbertson Mansion – New Albany, Indiana
House of Anguish at the Culbertson Mansion in New Albany combines a long-running, old-school haunted attraction with one of Southern Indiana’s most recognizable historic properties. The haunt itself takes place inside the carriage house behind the enormous 1869 Culbertson Mansion, where volunteers build a new Halloween experience while leaning into the creepy atmosphere and history surrounding the property.
House of Anguish has been frightening the region for more than 40 years and remains a charity haunt, with proceeds helping support the ongoing preservation of the Culbertson Mansion State Historic Site. During our 2025 visit, guests stepped into a paranormal-investigation storyline that transformed the carriage house into what felt like a haunted Victorian mansion filled with lost souls, strange creatures, interactive actors, and classic old-school effects. In 2026, flood waters are taking over…

Know Before You Go: Charity haunt supporting the Culbertson Mansion, located in the carriage house behind the historic mansion, covered outdoor waiting, indoor haunt, light-contact experience, free nearby street and overflow parking, and the haunt also traditionally hosts select holiday/off-season events.

When Darkness Falls Haunted Trail – Columbus, Indiana
When Darkness Falls Haunted Trail at CERA Sports Park & Campground in Columbus sends guests away from the ball fields and campsites and deep into the woods, where darkness, simple backwoods structures, detailed scenes, and unpredictable actors turn the otherwise peaceful park into something much more sinister. This is a gritty outdoor haunt where much of the fear comes from not knowing what may be hiding in the trees, following behind you, or waiting inside the next shack.
During our 2025 visit, the trail took nearly 24 minutes to complete and included everything from a disturbing doll area and makeshift laboratory to spider-infested sections, gross-out scares, fog, flames, and actors who were more than willing to chase us through the darkness. It’s a growing south-central Indiana haunt that combines the natural creepiness of the woods with a surprising number of fully built environments along the way.
Opening night: October 2
Know Before You Go: Entirely outdoor haunted trail, free paved parking, concessions and gift shop, outdoor uncovered waiting, uneven ground, and the trail is not handicap accessible. Dress for the weather and wear appropriate shoes.
