Looking for haunted attractions to add to your Kentucky Halloween plans? We’ve put together 10 Must-See Haunted Attractions in Kentucky for 2026 to help you discover some places we think haunt fans should have on their radar this season.
Our Must-See selections may include attractions we’ve reviewed, visited, or filmed, along with other haunts that stand out for what they offer, their popularity among haunt fans, or other reasons we think they’re worth checking out.
This is not a ranking or a “10 best” list, and these certainly aren’t the only haunts in Kentucky worth visiting. Think of this as a starting point for building your haunt list. There are plenty more attractions throughout Kentucky waiting to be discovered! This list is in no particular order.
So, where will you scream first?
The American Horrorplex – Louisville, Kentucky
The American Horrorplex in Louisville pulls guests into the disturbed world of the Bracken-Hart Institute, where original characters, intense interactions, detailed environments, and an ongoing storyline help make the experience feel like much more than a collection of unrelated rooms. During our 2025 visit, the haunt leaned heavily into the idea that guests were investigators entering an institution where something had gone very wrong, with patients and other inhabitants making sure we became part of the madness.
American Horrorplex has also become known for its character-driven approach, creative scenes, and actors who aren’t afraid to get personal with their victims. The attraction spans more than 13,000 square feet, and its combination of story, scares, and dark humor gives it a personality all its own in the Louisville haunt scene.

The Devil’s Attic – Louisville, Kentucky
The Devil’s Attic in Louisville sends guests straight into Satan’s collection of evil souls, monsters, historical horrors, and familiar movie-inspired nightmares.
The cast remains one of the biggest reasons this haunt stands out. During our 2025 visit, the actors delivered some of the most intense performances of the season, backed by detailed sets, creative costumes, and enough variety to make every new room feel unpredictable. If you prefer actor-heavy haunts with a more theatrical style, The Devils Attic should be high on your Kentucky radar!
Opening night: September 12th

The Haunted Hotel – Louisville, Kentucky
The Haunted Hotel KY in Louisville is built for guests who want their haunted experience to get considerably more personal. This extreme, interactive haunt has developed a reputation for actors who may grab, pull, separate, chase, and otherwise directly interact with guests as they try to survive a stay inside the 4th Street Hotel.
The hotel itself has become part of the story, complete with corrupted employees, strange residents, and increasingly hostile encounters waiting behind its doors. During our 2025 visit, the attraction mixed detailed hotel-themed environments with relentless actors and full-contact scares, making it one of the most physically interactive experiences on this list.
Opening night: September 5th
Know Before You Go: Extreme full-contact attraction, outdoor waiting, gift shop, stairs inside, special events throughout the year, and this experience may involve grabbing, separation from your group, and other hands-on interaction.

Black Orchard Haunted House – Shelbyville, Kentucky
Black Orchard Haunted House in Shelbyville drops guests onto the property of this twisted family and their infamous Black Orchard Meats operation. Taking place inside and around a historic barn at Red Orchard Park, the attraction combines gritty backwoods settings, original and intense actors, dark wooded areas, and enough questionable substances to make you think twice about asking exactly what is being processed inside.
Black Orchard became noticeably more intense during our 2025 visit, with the cast taking full advantage of the barn, outdoor spaces, and storyline to keep our entire group under pressure. They have lots of changes coming for the 2026 season, and we can’t wait to see what’s cookin’!

Raven’s Cross Haunted Village – Cave City, Kentucky
Raven’s Cross Haunted Village in Cave City is celebrating 10 years of terror! It is also one of Kentucky’s most theatrical and immersive haunt experiences, transporting guests into a historical village where the characters, costumes, dialogue, and scenery work together to tell a larger story. In 2025, the village returned to the legend of Sleepy Hollow, filling the streets with fearful townspeople, witches, sinister secrets, and the looming threat of the Headless Horseman.
What really sets Raven’s Cross apart from a traditional haunted house is the level of interaction built into each scene. Actors don’t simply jump out and reset; they talk with guests, question them, accuse them, guide them, and pull them deeper into the story. Our 2025 team considered the cast one of the strongest they encountered all season, and the period-inspired village setting makes the attraction unlike almost anything else in Kentucky.
Know Before You Go: Full-contact attraction during our 2025 visit, with a low-cost no-touch option offered for guests who preferred not to be touched; escape games, VR experiences, and a large collectibles/gift shop. Peak October waits can become lengthy, so arriving early is recommended.

Grim Trails Haunted Attraction – Louisville, Kentucky
Grim Trails Haunted Attraction in Louisville twists familiar fairy tales, folklore, myths, and legends into a half-mile journey through dark woods and elaborate storybook environments. Instead of leaning heavily on the same slaughterhouses, zombies, and asylums seen at many attractions, Grim Trails has carved out its own niche with sinister versions of characters and stories guests may remember from childhood.
The trail is packed with detailed scenes that wind into small buildings and the surrounding woods, with everything from Hansel and Gretel to Sleepy Hollow and other legends taking a much darker turn. During our 2025 visit, the walkthrough lasted about 29 minutes, giving guests plenty of time to explore the creative environments and encounter the creatures hiding between them. Just watch out for the Morrigan; once you’re in her grasp, you’ll be trapped in the woods for eternity!
Opening night: September 18
Know Before You Go: Outdoor trail with indoor scene structures, free parking, food/concessions, gift shop, outdoor waiting, no-touch attraction, closed-toe shoes strongly recommended, metal detector screening, and bags larger than 12 x 12 inches are prohibited. Guests under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Haunted Trail of Chaos – London, Kentucky
Haunted Trail of Chaos in London lives up to its name by sending guests through a constantly changing mix of indoor and outdoor scenes designed to keep them guessing about what comes next. During our 2025 visit, the trail bounced between an evil carnival and graveyard and a haunted movie theater, with claustrophobic passages, monsters, and plenty of high-energy actors.
One of the things we appreciate most about this attraction is that the team continues to change and add to the trail each season instead of simply reopening the exact same experience. For 2026, the crew has also been working on a second, indoor attraction in Pineville, but the original Haunted Trail of Chaos in London is returning for another season.

Wicked World Scaregrounds – Nicholasville, Kentucky
Wicked World ScareGrounds in Nicholasville offers guests several distinct haunted experiences in one location, all set within one of the more energetic midway atmospheres in Kentucky. During our 2025 visit, guests faced Nightmare Haunted House, took aim at mutated creatures in The Hunted, and ventured through Valley of the Dead, their outdoor haunted trail.
The fun starts long before you enter the first haunt. Wicked World is especially known for its roaming characters and sliders, with sparks flying across the pavement while DJ Crankenstein keeps the midway loud and lively. Food, photo ops, specialty drinks, music, characters, and other entertainment make this somewhere guests can spend considerably more time than the walkthroughs alone.
Opening night: September 18th
Know Before You Go: Free parking, food and drinks, midway entertainment, gift shop, restrooms, indoor/outdoor attractions and waiting areas, security on-site, and waits can exceed two hours on busy nights. The haunt recommends purchasing online or arriving early. Flip-flops and high heels are not allowed. No touch attraction

USS Nightmare – Newport, Kentucky
USS Nightmare in Newport gives guests the rare opportunity to experience a haunted attraction aboard a REAL historic vessel floating on the Ohio River. The haunt occupies the William S. Mitchell, a massive 1934 steam-powered dredge that has been transformed into a maze of narrow corridors, machinery, crew quarters, dark passageways, and other spaces that naturally feel unlike anything you’ll find in a warehouse haunt.
The fictional story of the Mitchell Massacre has been layered over the ship’s real industrial history, turning the vessel into a haunted world populated by a doomed crew and plenty of things that should have stayed below deck. The setting alone makes USS Nightmare worth experiencing at least once, but the cramped spaces, multiple levels, original characters, and constant movement through the ship give the attraction its own unmistakable personality.
Opening night: September 18th
Know Before You Go: Located aboard a historic ship on the Ohio River, limited free parking is available on Riverboat Row with additional paid parking nearby, and special experiences such as the RIP tour and Captain’s Extreme Tour may be offered on select dates and include touch options. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
Nightmare Forest – Brandenburg, Kentucky
Nightmare Forest in Brandenburg turns the woods of Otter Creek Park into a sprawling collection of horror environments inspired by classic scary movies, original concepts, creatures, and twisted outdoor worlds. For the 2026 season, guests may experience scenes from the themed sections Five Nights, Weapons, Texas, “Haddon Field”, Sinister, Ring, and more!
Nightmare Forest has long been known for giving guests a substantial amount of haunt for their night, with multiple attraction areas and plenty happening outside the main trail as well. Current offerings around the property include midway-style entertainment, concessions, sideshow elements, axe throwing, and other activities, making this another Kentucky haunt where it’s worth allowing extra time before and after the walkthrough! Celebrating 24 years of fear!
Opening night: September 19th
Know Before You Go: Indoor/outdoor experience with wooded terrain, free parking, covered and uncovered waiting areas, food/concessions, midway games, gift shop, no-touch attraction. Wear sturdy shoes and dress for outdoor conditions.
