Immersion8.62

Four Scythes takes guests through three attractions, beginning with Carnival of Screams before moving into the Haskills Homestead and Haskills Meats Slaughterhouse. There was a clear separation between the clown-themed Carnival and the two Haskills attractions, while the Homestead and Slaughterhouse flowed together almost seamlessly. Carnival of Screams is an outdoor maze that can only operate during the final two weekends of the season because the haunt shares the Cumming Fairgrounds with the Cumming Country Fair. The maze featured a handful of simple scenes, and its outdoor location added to the lively midway atmosphere. At times, sounds from the nearby… Read More…

Special Effects8.47

The special effects at Four Scythes varied between the three attractions, with the Carnival of Screams taking a much simpler approach than the two Haskills areas. Since the Carnival is located outdoors near the midway and parking lot, its lighting appeared to rely entirely on the overhead streetlights. Beyond the ambient circus music, the main effect we encountered was a set of claustrophobic airbags, leaving this section with fairly limited use of effects overall. The Haskills Homestead and Haskills Meats Slaughterhouse offered a much wider variety of sensory details. Lighting was generally dim, with accent lights used to draw attention… Read More…

Characters8.47

Four Scythes features 40 volunteer actors, and nearly everyone we encountered seemed determined to get multiple scares out of our group. The entertainment started before we even entered the attractions, with several roaming characters in the queue and midway areas doing a great job of interacting with guests and keeping things lively. Inside Carnival of Screams, the small cast had a lot of ground to cover, and while a few additional actors could have helped fill the space, those present worked hard to make the most of their opportunities. The Haskills attractions also featured performers who often tried to get… Read More…

Scare Factor8.13

Four Scythes offers a variety of scares across its three attractions, with each area taking a slightly different approach. In Carnival of Screams, the clowns relied heavily on pop-out scares, a strategy that worked well given the relatively small cast and helped them make the most of the space. The Haskills Homestead and Haskills Meats Slaughterhouse offered more opportunities for repeat scares, with actors often finding ways to catch us more than once in a scene and even continuing the action as we moved between rooms. A few particularly memorable moments came from unexpected places, including a pile of burlap… Read More…

Value7.82

With a 24-minute walkthrough and a general admission combo ticket priced at $30, Four Scythes delivers an MPD (minutes per dollar) ratio of 0.80, which is a bit better than the value we typically see at many of the haunts we visit. The experience extends beyond the attractions themselves, with entertaining interactions from the roaming queue actors, a couple of photo opportunities, and, depending on when you visit, live music in the midway. These extras help round out the evening and give guests more to enjoy beyond the scares. Even better, Four Scythes is a nonprofit haunt that supports the… Read More…

Fantastic actors and the most detailed haunting I have seen in the area. The design is fully immersive with sights sounds and smells making it unique

Suggested Improvements:
Work on parking lot lighting to create a spookier feeling after the fair. I have gone both times and it’s a great show.
