Pemberton Haunted Acres Review (2026)

Pemberton Haunted Acres truly wants to give the guest the best experience possible, it seems. From the second you enter into the park after that ticket booth, you are met with an incredibly beautiful wooden barn complete with lit jack o’lanterns, and the most terrifying ghoul to greet you! After braving the chainsaws and making your way into the park, you can find all sorts of photo ops, merchandise, an expansive midway area where they serve fresh burgers, sodas and snacks. They also have a nice little area tucked to the side where they play horror movies and you can sit on hay bales and watch- they were playing Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the original movie, my favorite!

While waiting in line for each of the three haunts, there are roaming scareactors lurking behind you as you casually stand there, keeping you on your toes at every moment! They made sure to make the lines more entertaining for us all.

Each guest has about 3 minutes in between entering into the haunts- so prepare to wait a little more for a much better experience, in my opinion. There is no rushing you through, conga lines, or large groups shoveling through.

Hillbilly Mayhem was truly one of the most gory haunts we have had the pleasure of walking through! Each room just kept getting more and more intense with guts and blood literally everywhere. The horrific smells hit you right as soon as you enter, preparing you for what you are about to witness going forth.

In ValleyView Hotel, it was really creative to have us walking through the hotel as if we were guests checking in- even having the actors play along with the fact that we were, in fact, supposed to be there because we were staying in this gruesome hotel. Upon entering, the lights flicker, there are the sounds of pipes leaking all around, and there are ghoulish mortals lurking in each room complete with their horrific scenes of death, further creating a fantastic display of horrors and nightmarish delight for us to experience.

In Pine Hollow Forest, we found ourselves amongst towering Pine trees, with incredibly large sets that made us feel like we were actually walking through a National Forest. Complete with its campsites, Park Rangers, and the most elusive creatures we would later need to escape from! The swamps throughout this haunt were so believable with the laser height and fog. Having the wooden docks at our shoulder height, allowing for scares from above that we may not be expecting, was incredibly effective!

A recommendation would be to close the ceilings in the rooms for each of the indoor houses, allowing for the sounds to stay within the rooms and not transfer throughout the haunt. There were times when we would be passed a scene and would hear the next group being scared with something we just heard prior taking us out of the immersion for a moment.

Each haunt was complete with special effects, ranging from dim, flashing lighting to intense, atmospheric sounds and putrid smells. The swamps were especially effective with the right height of the lasers and just enough fog to make it impossible to see what was lurking deep below.

The strobe lighting and Special FX sounds in the ValleyView Hotel were so eerie- it made us really feel as though we were going deeper into this terrifyingly broken-down hotel and we possibly weren’t going to actually find our way out!

This was also the first time we experienced a curved claustrophobic tunnel, and one of the longest durations of one too! You certainly had my anxiety peaking in that one!

The makeup on the actors was also very well implemented. Each character had Special FX makeup on their necks and chests, blending their creepy masks right into their personas, almost making you second guess if they were real or not.

The characters at Pemberton Haunted Acres are all so unique to their own storylines and haunts. The actors not only come from all angles to make you jump from scares, but they have some of the best phrases out of any of the haunts we have visited. Each room we entered, they didn’t just stare at us or scream, they had lines to say. And when I tell you that some of them made my skin crawl with what they said, I wouldn’t be lying! The banter back and forth made for some of the most enjoyment of the evening, I must admit.

Each character had different masks than the other, still keeping a theme without having any duplications throughout. The makeup on each actor was complete, and allowed for the blending of their masks seamlessly to their skin. Many of the costumes had layers of details amongst them, adding that extra level of immersion that a haunt needs.

A recommendation would be to have some more characters in Pine Hollow Forest- maybe some different cryptids abound, and possibly more campers or hikers to increase the scares- since many of them were coming from the Rangers, telling us to escape.

We screamed, we ran, and we had a great time! The scares were all so different in each of the haunts, and the fact that two of them were indoors made it much more enjoyable in the FL weather. The scares didn’t stop from the moment we entered into the haunt park, to the literal moment we exited those plastic flaps at the ticket booth. Pemberton Haunted Acres makes sure you will have an enjoyable experience while you are there.

A recommendation would be to make the endings of the haunts a little more impactful and scary. There were a couple times we weren’t sure if we were finished with the haunt or just heading into a new scene. More scares, more actors, more intensity, and more confusion always help to bring a truly impactful ending. We also love surprises!

If you are looking for incredibly gory and relentless scares, unique and creative characters who certainly know how to scare you- and not just by jumping out from the darkness- then this is the haunt for you!

Tickets to the Pemberton Haunted Acres are $28 for general admission, and they even offer a fast pass ticket option for a little more. You get access to three haunts (two of them being completely indoors), an incredibly immersive and interactive scare zone, a huge midway complete with movies, games, and fresh cooked food- all within that ticket price.

Overall, the walkthrough time for all three haunts was about 22 minutes, making this well worth the value of admission. The sets and build designs alone make the value worthwhile. Then add in the intensity of scares and incredible immersive atmosphere for each haunt, and you have a full haunt experience in the end.

You may find yourself trying to escape the grasps of the demented hillbillies if you do decide to attend though. But it will be totally worth it!
