Farm of Fears features a large, open midway centered around an impressive tree that serves as a natural focal point for the area. The tree is covered in lights, although unfortunately, they weren’t illuminated during our visit. Numerous picnic tables and several fire pits provide plenty of space to relax, socialize, and interact with the roaming actors. The midway is partially surrounded by food and drink vendors, a merchandise stand, a variety of games including axe throwing and several photo opportunities. Vendor prices were all quite reasonable, making it easy to enjoy some food, drinks, or activities without spending too much. Several well-maintained porta-potties are also conveniently located nearby, and a welcome little detail is that they even have lights inside!
The midway area opens before the haunt does, and during that time many of the actors roam about entertaining guests that arrive early. Most of them disappear back into the haunt just before guests are let in, leaving only a few to cover the large midway and queue areas. While the difference in coverage was noticeable, the roaming actors did their best to entertain guests.
General admission is $27 and can be used on any operating night during the season. For those looking to spend less time in line, a $45 Fast Pass provides access to the front of the queue. Children 10 and under can enter for $15, while a $5 Midway-only ticket is available for anyone accompanying a group who would prefer to enjoy the festivities without going through the haunt. With its comfortable gathering spaces, affordable vendors, and variety of activities, the midway offers plenty to enjoy before or after the scares.
Be sure to wear older, comfortable shoes. Unless it has recently rained, you won’t have issues walking in mud, but your shoes will be dusty by the end of the evening.
