Scoring Criteria Transition: 2026 sits right at a change in our review categories and weighting, so this score isn’t an apples-to-apples comparison to reviews from nearby years under different criteria; worth keeping in mind if you’re tracking a haunt’s rating over time.

Disclosure: The author(s) of this review received free or comped tickets from The Hidden Haunted Attraction in exchange for this review. Despite this, The Scare Factor remains committed to providing our honest, unbiased assessment of every attraction to help you make informed decisions.

Summary

The Hidden Haunted Attraction is a charity haunt run by the Tri-State Trillium Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that funds a scholarship fund for local students and provides opportunities for volunteering, leadership, and fellowship. It is located next to a mini-golf course that gets dressed up in Halloween animatronics and other trimmings for the season; combo tickets make for a super-fun evening of entertainment. We know some people equate ‘charity haunts’ with lame or weak-sauce efforts. That has not been our experience in general and it is certainly not true here. We have had a rollicking great time on each of… Read More…

We followed GPS directions right to the driveway and turned in at the illuminated sign. Free parking was at the end of a rather long dirt road; just keep going and you’ll get there. Coming in, the putt-putt course is in front of you and the haunt across from it. One or two food trucks have been parked here on each of our visits and they have invariably been quite good (The Scare Factor does not score on food offerings). There is no website, but their Facebook page covers the basics. We got there quite late – we were actually… Read More…

The area outside the attraction is a neat mix of spooky vibes and party times. Spooky lights and scary props balance out the pop songs and dancing. The queue and ticketing shack are enclosed within chainlink fencing, giving a caged feel to the area. Between the overall aggressive nature of the cast and not knowing when/where the next blood-based attacks would be launched, we did not have much time to worry about anything else! The things most likely to break the immersion spell were typical haunt ‘signalers’ …by which we mean the old-school mainstays like black tarp walls and pallet… Read More…

Special Effects7.1

The Hidden featured standard old-school trail sort of effects like the aforementioned wooden pallets and black plastic wall coverings, plus some more stylish accouterments. Such as: the witch coven’s cauldron bubbling with a sickly green sludge containing skulls and eyeballs; a few cool animatronics; a playground inhabited by killer clowns; a cannibal camp with a working grill and …mattress (sus); a long, narrow tunnel filled with thick red fog; a striking light show of rotating colors in the trees; spongy ground throwing us off our footing; a boat and other odd abandoned pieces strewn about the junkyard-like domain; and a… Read More…

Characters7.84

The large cast here is always a raucous mob acting like degenerate deviants, and we love it! They were on fire this night. Screeching, cavorting, crawling around on the ground, running up to us, taunting, stalking, and squirting, spraying, smearing, and streaking us with blood. Many of them carried on extended conversations with us but knew well when to cut it short. The killbilly crew was a group of particularly nasty customers. First, they offered us grilled flesh, aka sausage, steak, and chicken …we think. Whatever it was, it was damn tasty. Then, one of us – the biggest one… Read More…

Scare Factor7.95

Oh yeah, we got scared aplenty. The blood aspect triggered a sizable amount of revulsion and apprehension. It significantly upped the intimidation factor we naturally feel here due to the confrontational cast.

They got us with jump scares, wielding weapons, acting strangely (looking at you, Toejam), group separation several times, cutting visibility to go with audio assaults, containment, confusion from dead ends and mazes, and screaming their guts out.

Value9.46

We walked for 32 minutes, until our feet bled. Or maybe that was excess drippage on our shoes. At the general admission price of $15, the MPD (inside-the-attraction minutes per dollar) came out to 2.13 – which is absolutely INSANE. Our target is 1.0, so The Hidden more than doubled the accepted standard. We thought we had our winner earlier this month at a place that hit 1.75, but The Hidden was very clearly, far and away, without a doubt the best value of our review season. The blood bath option did not cost anything extra, nor did the scaredy-cat-leave-me-alone… Read More…

2023Haunt AwardFreaky Foreshadowing (2023 – Team Cleaverland)The half-hour one-mile trail featured plenty of space to play with and play they did as they kept setting us up for scares and upcoming scenes and interactions. Sets were craftily designed to give glimpses of what was awaiting while concealing the key details and hiding places. Actors would show themselves only to disappear or run away or wait as we apprehensively approached. Sounds also played a role in the creepy tension-torquing tactics. From our review: ‘Catcalls and other sounds from areas ahead made us curious or apprehensive about what was coming next. We could hear banging from a long way away and for a long time before we finally reached its source: an actor thumping on barrels who declared they would do the same to our heads. A beaked percussionist knocking away behind a wall as we drew near provided a distraction for another actor to swoop in from the other side. Growls from disembodied voices outside the butcher area ahead saying ‘yummy yummy we’re hungry in here’ were amusing and disturbing. They added a sense of discomfort and reluctance to face what awaited us.’ You might say this approach effectively forced us to march on and find …The Hidden!
